Product description
Pressed from black mustard seeds, this is the oil that gives Bengali and North Indian food its characteristic bite. The pungency is the point — it mellows as it heats and leaves behind a depth nothing else quite reproduces.

Questions, answered
Is this oil refined?
No. It is wooden-pressed at controlled temperature and bottled as it is, with no chemical refining, bleaching or deodourising.
Why does the oil look cloudy, or leave sediment at the bottom?
That is the character of an unrefined oil. The fine sediment is natural matter from the seed that refining would strip out, and it settles over time. It is not a fault.
How is it different from the refined black mustard oil in shops?
Refined oil is pressed at high temperature and then treated chemically, which strips the aroma and colour. This one keeps the smell and colour it came out with.
How long does it keep once opened?
Use it within the best-before date printed on the bottle. Keep the cap tight, store it away from the stove and use a clean, dry spoon each time.
How soon will it be delivered?
Orders are dispatched within 24–48 hours. Delivery times depend on your pin code — the shipping policy has the detail.

You can tell it has not been refined to death. Tastes like the oil my mother used to buy loose.

Good quality for the price. The per-litre pricing on the bigger size makes it worth it.
